CARY, N.C. (WTVD) — Daniel Shen is altering the world. The 17-year-old has been named one of many world’s prime younger scientists.

Daniel gained a $50,000 award Friday on the Regeneron Worldwide Science and Engineering Truthful. He created an algorithm that is now getting used to diagnose septic shock and assist meteorologists with hurricane predictions.

The Enloe Magnet Excessive Faculty junior was initially attempting to develop an app that might allow hands-free management of turning sheet music whereas enjoying the piano.

“By beginning small, we will uncover basic issues. By fixing these we now have enormous impacts,” Daniel stated.

The competitors featured greater than 1,800 younger scientists from world wide. Daniel was judged primarily based on his creativity, innovation and degree of scientific inquiry.
